Dental Procedures | Precision Dentistry

In our comprehensive office we utilize precision dentistry, which is the most complete and thorough approach to dental care. For example, precision crowns/bridges done in our office are fabricated on a precision instrument, called a dental articulator. The information obtained in this process provides the dental laboratory with precise jaw movements, which are unique to each individual patient. This allows the laboratory technician to fabricate the restorations around the precise movements of the patient’s jaw and provide a comfortable and natural feel to the restorations. Most people are accustomed to having a restoration placed that needs multiple adjustments and the result does not feel natural. Our laboratory fabricated restorations are done on the articulator, which virtually eliminates any adjustments for a natural feel and esthetics.

Other areas where patients have repeated trouble are partials and nightguards. Dr. Grabavoy personally designs the partial denture from start to finish by prescription to the dental laboratory technician. This virtually guarantees an exacting and comfortable fit. In today’s stressful environment many patients clench and grind their teeth requiring nightguard therapy. Often times a patient will start nightguard therapy and not continue due to the nightguard being uncomfortable. This is not the case with a precision nightguard. Our nightguards are fabricated on the articulator as stated above according to the patient’s bite requirements. Therefore, our patients wear their appliance nightly for years. This saves their teeth from the damage caused by the destructive forces of clenching and grinding, which can destroy enamel and create functional and esthetic problems.

Dr. Grabavoy has been on staff at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center for more than 20 years. He works with physicians who refer patients that require dental care with medical needs. These patients require monitoring by an anesthesiologist in an operating room setting due to the status of their medical health. This enables them to acquire the necessary dental care in a safe environment.

Many patients in the United States are afraid to go to the dentist and are classified as a dental phobic. Dr. Grabavoy has over 20 years of treating dental phobics and re-acclimating them into a normal dental setting. This is accomplished by utilizing general anesthesia in an outpatient setting for procedures that truly make a patient anxious like extractions and root canals. Then the patient can be transitioned into the dental office through the use of oral sedatives and/or nitrous oxide. Dr. Grabavoy has many patients in the practice who have gone through this experience and are now successfully being treated in the dental office setting.
